In a still rural society, an ingenious and creative man laid the foundation for a project that was small but destined to become big. In his workshop in a small town in the Marche region of Italy, Orlando Simonelli created his first coffee machine. Despite the uncertainty of the postwar times, Orlando Simonelli managed to keep his focus on his goals, gradually transforming his start-up into a solid and thriving company. In 1948 he decided to move the business to Tolentino, hiring some workers to support its expansion. After a long illness, Orlando Simonelli bid farewell to his loved ones on May 9, 1971. The following year, its workers decided to take the reins of Nuova Simonelli S.p.A., so Nando Ottavi, Graziano Boldrini, Giovanni Feliziani and Carlo Gesuelli boldly bought the company. To keep the company going, prudent and shared decisions needed to be made. Keeping this in mind and looking to the future, the new partners decided to move the business to a new location where they could have adequate space for growth.
