Simone Angeloni is the first Ph.D. student from the University of Camerino to receive his doctoral degree after doing the entire study period within the Simonelli-Unicam Research Center(International Hub for Coffee Research and Innovation). In these days of health emergency, he discussed his English-language thesis in pharmaceutical sciences titled “Espresso coffee preparation: analytical study to improve the quality of the product” by videoconference with the committee composed of professors from other Italian universities. His supervisor throughout his doctoral program, pertaining to the scientific field of pharmaceutical chemistry, was Prof. Sauro Vittori, a professor at the University of Camerino.
Simone Angeloni, a former Pharmacy graduate in 2016, had won at the time the competition for admission to the Unicam PhD School announced and funded by the International Hub for Coffee Research and Innovation. Unique in its specificity, the Center operates as a scientific and technological support to the development of knowledge in the coffee supply chain, increasing the strength of innovation of this important beverage appreciated worldwide. Great satisfaction for the results achieved by Simone Angeloni with his research and for the attainment of his doctoral degree was expressed by Nando Ottavi, president of Simonelli Group, and Flavio Corradini, director of the International Hub for Coffee Research and Innovation and former rector of theUniversity of Camerino during the period in which the research center was promoted and established. Five researchers and doctoral students are currently working in it in different specific areas of research, gaining appreciation both from the scientific world and from important players in the global coffee supply chain.
