MILAN Oct. 12, 2022 – Simonelli Group and its innovative Pure Brew Technology was honored today in Milan with the SMAU Innovation Award 2022, the award to companies, governments and entities that have taken the path ofOpen Innovation by collaborating with companies or startups to innovate. The awards ceremony takes place at the two-day SMAU, which is confirmed as the benchmark event for the national and international innovation ecosystem and the leading business matching platform in Italy.
The award received by Simonelli Group concerns the development of PureBrew Technology, a revolutionary extraction method that applies to bothespresso brewing and a new beverage, called Pure Brew Coffee, a filter coffee with unique characteristics and extracted at low pressure from the same coffee machine, the Black Eagle Maverick by Victoria Arduino.
Pure Brew Technology is a three-phase extraction method that uses pulsating frequencies of water pressure to release the purest aroma from the coffee bean based on its freshness, region, and the type of coffee chosen. Using a special patented double-mesh conical filter holder, the machine can also create filter coffee, called Pure Brew Coffee, at the touch of a button. This new beverage, extracted under low pressure, is syrupy with a lot of body. In addition, the system set up is fully automatic, ensuring that the barista has maximum control over coffee brewing in terms of consistency of the result and canoffer a menu and thus awider range of offerings to his customers.
This is an innovation in which the ultimate end benefit primarily is the consumer, who has the opportunity to have a new type of filter beverage with unique characteristics that cannot be replicated by other extraction methodologies. An additional secondary benefit is from the point of view of the footprint of the equipment in the room, as the need for water heating equipment required to extract filter coffee and related filters could be dispensed with, with a consistent and replicable in-cup result by any barista. This represents the main difference from manual extractions, which are subjective and vary depending on the operator and his or her skill. In addition the Black Eagle Maverick uses 37% less energy than the previous model.
Also on Wednesday, October 12, Simonelli Group CEO Fabio Ceccarani participated in a panel discussion on “Business and sustainability, the future is now.” In this meeting, the winners of the Smau 2022 Innovation Award illustrated targeted recycling actions, waste monitoring, and high-impact social and technological initiatives to protect our planet.
