New Simonelli 27 March 2024
The first session of the Youth Academy Italia 2024 courses, Simonelli Group’s contest offering 6 young people a scholarship to follow SCA’s certified Coffee Skills Program training course, has just ended. An important opportunity to train young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to enter the coffee industry as professionals.
During the past week the students have been busy with trainers Francesca Bieker, Dario Ciarlantini and Marco Cremonese taking the Sensory Foundation course exams and attending and then passing the first level of the Green and Roasting courses.
But what are the dreams and ambitions of the Youth Academy Italy 2024 class?
Mara Fazio is of Calabrian descent but lives and works in Florence. His dream is “to bring the specialty culture to southern Italy and to work in the world of green coffee and roasting.” Youth Academy students include Andrea Bianchini, a sommelier at a starred restaurant in the Marche region. Andrea wants to “bring coffee culture to the world of starred dining and guide customers in their choice of coffee.”
“My dream is to popularize everything related to refined and quality raw materials,” says Azzurra Pollini from Reggio Emilia. “In the future, I would like to open a space where there is a bottega with quality and sought-after products, bakery with adjoining specialty coffee shop.”
Erald Gjikola ‘s goal (from Brescia) is to “open premises capable of becoming inclusive focal points, ideal background for daily social exchanges and personally roasting coffee.” AriAsioli, on the other hand, dreams of carrying on the family roastery with all his innovative ideas and thanks to the training offered by Simonelli Group. Diego Busterwante is studying at Pollenzo near Turin in the famous faculty of gastronomic sciences and dreams of working in the world of coffee.
Andrea, Ari, Azzurra, Diego, Erald and Mara have just begun an exciting journey of discovery, innovation and excellence. Simonelli Group continues to invest in preparing for a future where young minds are at the forefront of the coffee industry’s growth.
