The aim of the project that Simonelli Group is carrying out together with Sigma SpA is to study and develop evolved artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, technologies and systems by means of which production and service processes can be made more efficient. The project also aims to develop a new generation of products with evolved AI and high environmental sustainability: unprecedented functions of human-machine and machine-machine interaction are being studied to facilitate the user’s task and self-regulating functions aimed at reducing energy consumption and waste.
During 2023, the first mock-ups of the portafilter recognition system by the grinder-machine were tested and the grinding self-adjustment algorithm was tested. The goal for 2024 is the realization of a working prototype that meets the goal of reducing calibration coffee waste by 10%.
