A new important recognition for Simonelli Group, which is among the five Italian finalists for the Best Performance Award 2021, the award that SDA Bocconi School of Management gives to the best Italian companies that stand out forexcellence in creating economic, technological, human, social and environmentalvalue, operating in a sustainable way. In 2021, SDA Bocconi monitored the performance of more than 900,000 companies; in the first phase of analysis, the award’s organizing committee selected 600 and then identified the 15 finalist companies in the three identified size categories (small, medium and large companies).
“Being among the finalists for this award once again confirms to us how important it is for a company to be organized to innovate in a sustainable way and with a focus on the relationship with all stakeholders,” said Fabio Ceccarani, CEO of Simonelli Group. “The Simonelli Group experience in thecoffee industry, in fact, is fundamentally based on three pillars that concern product, that is, an offer of innovative solutions able to improve thein-cup experience of its customers in a sustainable way; platforms, that is, the use of connected machines and digital technologies to overcome geographic boundaries and to improve service and knowledge about coffee; and, finally, proximity, that is, the involvement of partners in innovation processes able to generate greater value and open up new insights.”
“This operating model and our approach to the market,” Ceccarani continues, “have allowed us to grow very rapidly over the past 10 years in terms of both turnover and EBITDA. In 2020, like many companies, we experienced a contraction in our turnover, but right in the middle of the pandemic we decided to increase our investments in order to accelerate our digital plans. The 2021 figures confirm the strength and resilience of our business model, recording the best results.”
The Best Performance Award is an initiative promoted by SDA Bocconi in partnership with J.P. Morgan Private Bank, PwC, EQT, Bureau Van Dijk, and Havas PR and rewards Italian companies that stand out for achieving “sustainable development” both in conducting their business and in making new investments. The award has a greater relevance especially after the ranking drawn up yesterday by the Financial Times: in addition to being the best international business school in Italy, SDA Bocconi School of Management is confirmed in fifth place in Europe and thirteenth in the world in the annual ranking drawn up by the prestigious economic-financial newspaper on the best Masters in Business Administration.
The 2021 winners in the various categories (by size-small, medium, and large-for best company and best company on a hot topic) were decreed at the end of a research and analysis of 900,000 companies carried out to assess their performance. This type of analysis is able to return a crisp and broad overview of our country’s business landscape, both in terms of characteristics inherent in turnover and with respect to ESG issues, while also providing an interesting yardstick for comparison with previous years.
