SIMONELLI GROUP RECEIVED THE “SUSTAINABILITY AWARD”

Belforte del Chienti, March 9th, 2022 – Yesterday, in Belforte del Chienti at the Simonelli Group headquarters, the official consignment of the “Sustainability Award” was held where Simonelli Group, leading producer of coffee machines, received the award.

This important recognition, promoted by Credit Suisse and Kon Group with Forbes Media partner, is reserved for those Italian companies that have distinguished themselves in facing the challenges of climate emergency, turning it into an opportunity to express innovation and activating the best energy in the Country.

Last October, a comparative study was presented in Milan and announced the classification of the top 100 most sustainable Italian companies. Today, Simonelli Group of Belforte del Chienti received the prize for being one of these prestigious Companies. The award was handed out in person by Giorgia Fuglini of Credit Suisse and Vincenzo Ferragino of KON Group directly to the President of Simonelli Group Nando Ottavi, the CEO Fabio Ceccarani, and the Sustainability Advisor and member of the Sustainability Team Manuela Feliziani.

“Since the 1970s, we started confronting ourselves with the international markets. We understood how investing in innovation about the environment, energy-saving, and technology would be decisive in winning future challenges and generating added value. We have seen increased competitiveness following this path with positive effects on revenue, export, and employment. We dared to be sustainable, which means for our Company, promoting our innovative culture while safeguarding the environment,” – specified Nando Ottavi, President of Simonelli Group.

For more than ten years, we have undertaken a concrete consideration on the concept of sustainability, in particular, on the reduction of the environmental impact of the Company and our products”, declared Fabio Ceccarani, CEO of Simonelli Group. “We are on target to reach total energy self-sufficiency by the end of 2025, through the strengthening of the photovoltaic system and activities aimed at reducing energy consumption. We are also committed to reducing our products’ environmental impact using the standardized method Life Cycle Assessment. This has allowed lowering CO2 emissions by 23% during the life cycle of our machines, compared to previous models. We have also developed new technologies to recover waste energy, to reduce energy consumption by over 35%.” in his speech, Fabio Ceccarani, CEO of Simonelli Group, also affirmed.

Sustainability is an integrated part of the Simonelli Group strategy, starting from the product, the processes, up to the culture and territory development, the people and the environment,” – explained Manuela Feliziani, Sustainability Advisor of the Company. “During the years, the Company was able to create a strong partner and stakeholder network that share the same principles and values: innovate and develop technologies for coffee extraction that sustainably valorize the entire coffee chain. Other than having adopted the 2030 United Nations agenda goals, we are working to improve our territory’s welfare and quality of life through targeted actions in the cultural, sports, and health fields. At the same time we take care of our priorities: inclusion, young people and equal opportunity”.

The Sustainability Award (addressed to Italian companies with a turnover of between € 10 and 600 million) aims at recognizing the value of companies that have distinguished themselves for sustainable development, social responsibility, and respect for the environment.

Even though there is not yet a single European regulation, rating agencies have developed tools to verify corporate sustainability through environmental, social, and governance (ESG) parameters with precise methodologies: Score and ESG ratings. The companies that participated in the Sustainability Award have been evaluated upon these parameters. The selection of companies took place in two phases, then drawing up the final ranking of the TOP#100 entrepreneurial experiences, which brought innovation in their sector while implementing, at the same time, a sustainability-oriented behavior.
